About Us
Giorgio was born in Venezuela in 1967, developing a passion for rhythm and poetry that later became his voice against discrimination after immigrating to the U.S. in the late 1980s.
In the early 1990s, he gained a small underground following and met Celia Armanes, a Puerto Rican entrepreneur who shared his dream of helping young artists. After their marriage and the birth of their son, Giorgio Jr., in 1995, Giorgio tragically died in a car accident four years later.
Inspired by his story, Lithuanian immigrant Andrius Butkevičius founded West Giorgio Records®️ in 2002 to continue Giorgio’s mission of empowering marginalized artists. Today, the label thrives globally, carrying forward Giorgio’s legacy through diverse voices and the music of his son.
